Head Chef - Corporate Catering

An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Head Chef to share our passion and drive within a corporate environment based with the Sydney CBD.

Reporting to our Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the daily operation of the kitchen which operates Monday to Friday within a corporate facility.
  • Planning and developing menus.
  • Effectively manage food cost and ensure optimum productivity levels within the kitchen team.
  • Be creative in the design and implementation of ongoing food concept.
  • Prepare employee work schedules on a daily basis.
  • Effective recruitment, training, development and coaching of all kitchen team.
  • Maintaining WH&S and HACCP implementation across kitchen areas.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Extensive experience within the industry with five years' experience within a similar role.
  • Possess excellent communication, verbal, written and interpersonal skills coupled with strong problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to manage a brigade and contribute as part of a team.

Assistant Financial Controller

Stix Catering is currently seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to drive financial control and operational reporting across their portfolio of industrial, commercial and retail catering services. This Sydney based role will assist the Senior Financial Controller to provide analytical support to the Managing Director and Department Heads and is a key player in improving the company’s performance and ongoing growth.

Some of the Duties of the role will include:

  • Supporting the Senior Financial Controller with a result driven, strategic business approach
  • Leading a team of six (6) in the finance department
  • Monitoring financial systems to improve and streamline procedures
  • Assisting with annual budget development and monthly forecasting
  • Preparation of month Profit and Loss statements, Balance Sheet reconciliations, cash flows, payroll tax, IAS, Management reports / dashboards, client specific reporting and invoicing, quarterly BAS and ad hoc tax matters in accordance with deadlines and priorities
  • Being directly responsible and accountable for the financial information across the group
  • Ensuring all payments to suppliers are balanced, approved, authorised and paid on time
  • Reviewing and monitoring accounts receivable to ensure payments are paid within payment terms

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience in hotels or within the hospitality industry preferred
  • Tertiary Accounting qualification
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (CPA, CA) or studying towards
  • Strong organisational, negotiation and technical skills
  • High level of verbal and written communication with a strong eye for detail
  • Proven ability to train, develop and lead team members
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, prior experience with MYOB (or similar accounting package),  Impos, Revel, Tyro and Events Pro software will be an advantage

We are currently seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our inflight team located at Mascot. 

Having exposure to numerous areas and working within a fully equipped professional facility, you will be responsible for assisting in managing the operational and service aspects of the kitchen whilst also managing the training and development of the brigade.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Commercial Cookery Certificate
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Sous Chef in previous position
  • Strong passionate leader with a proven ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • A strong understanding of safe food handling procedures, and health & safety procedures
  • Able to communicate clearly and possess a good command of verbal and written English.

Boardroom Attendant

Stix Catering is seeking outstanding team members to work inside Sydney's most prominent corporate & financial institution in the heart of Sydney CBD, on a full-time basis. 

The Role

Operationally you will be involved in all aspects of food and beverage service, you will be responsible for tasks such as greeting, set-up, serving guests, pack-down, and other related services. The delivery of high-end hospitality services is a key focus, as is impeccable grooming. The standard hours are Monday to Friday daytime; however you may be required for the occasional evening event. Other responsibilities include:

  • Welcome corporate customers in a friendly and accommodating manner, making a great first impression.
  • Ensuring that the food service areas are kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • To personally have a thorough understanding of the venue and its operations
  • Comply with uniform and grooming standards.
